A post just in ... under the wire

Getting in a post before the change of the calendar month! And speaking of such ... the county to our south, Henry County, Tennessee, is having school registration today. Do they not know that it is still July? Who in their right mind thinks about school in July? (Oh, and I have never claimed to be in my right mind.)

If from the above I can surmise that summer is over, it has certainly flown by.  At the left is the Kentucky sunrise I photographed on the way to work this morning. (clickit for bigger)

Now, onto the telecom world. Our long distance provider, Accxx seems to be going broke. I tried to contact them via every method known to man -- short of smoke signals -- and have not been successful. We've experience outages and an incorrect bill this month, and cannot break through to them. I sent our public service commission a letter and changed our long distance service back to the new AT&T.

And, I was all excited about BellSouth/AT&T's $10/month DSL offering hidden deeply in their webpages. The specified 768 kbps down and 256 kbps up will meet our needs and I began searching for modems at lunchtime, but thought I'd first make a call to our cable provider, MediaComm, to see if they would match it. Yep, $9.95 per month for one year. No Cat, you can't have the $420 annual savings.

Seeya in August!
