A colleague recently inquired if I hold grudges. I told him, "No, I just have a good memory." Thus my attitude toward the demise of Geocities.
My first website was called Catphisch's Easy-to-Understand Investment Advice and, yes, it was hosted on Geocities. Catphisch dispensed humorous advice monthly to those who plied the financial message boards on Yahoo back in the early days of this decade. I owned a few hundred shares of stock of my employer' holding company, Ingersoll-Rand, and did a bit of trading within my 401K based on the relative value of IR stock with regard to the mutual funds available to me. This posting on the Yahoo IR board was the beginning of fun times with whiny investors. No, I didn't register the domain crybaby.com though it was available until Oct. 21, 2001.
